D & P Communications, Inc., (D & P) originated from the telephone company, Deerfield Farmers' Telephone Company (DFTC). DFTC was organized in 1898 to offer telephone services to the Deerfield and Petersburg areas. Deerfield Farmers' Telephone Company was incorporated in 1908, at that time any subscriber of phone service from DFTC was given one share of company stock.
In 1994, DFTC was reorganized as part of D & P Communications, Inc. This was in an effort to provide non-regulated services in an effective and timely manner in order to contend with the competition. Also, the subsidiary of D & P Cable was formed to allow the company to offer cable and internet services to the Petersburg and Deerfield areas.
As D & P Communications, Inc., our company has continued to expand the range of services offered, as well as compete in many new towns. We currently offer Local Phone, Cable Television, Internet and Long Distance services in Blissfield, Britton, Deerfield, Dundee, Hudson, Morenci, Palmyra, Petersburg, Riga, Tecumseh, and parts of Adrian, Ida and Lambertville. In late 2010, D & P added a fixed wireless system that allows us to offer high-speed internet and phone to 80% of Lenawee County.
D & P Communications Inc. is currently expanding our services to the city of Adrian. We will begin offering all of our services to the city of Adrian beginning in the fall of 2012.
D & P provides a private network with voice, video and data services to Bixby and Herrick Hospitals, as well as the hospitals in Hudson, Tecumseh, Clinton, Morenci and many of their Pro-Medica sites. This network runs on fiber optic cable and is owned and operated by D & P. We have also been heavily involved with Mercy Hospital and their Dundee site, along with many other Doctors’ offices for connectivity and data services. We have service agreements with the City of Adrian, and Lenawee County that connect all their facilities together and operate on a private network.
D & P will always continue to be involved with all legislation to ensure the security of our operations. We also look forward to the ever-changing growth and competition within the telecommunications industry. We will continue to look at new markets as well as diversify our services in existing service areas. There are many innovative technologies on the market and we will constantly research these technologies to determine what best fits our company and the people we serve. D & P Communications will always offer the same great service and reliability that has allowed us to succeed in Southeast Michigan for so many years.
